Decorating for Valentine's Day

Hello, Dear Friends, I have been busy
adding some sweet hearts
and cherubs to my favorite
place in the whole wide world -
my little cottage kitchen <3

I've been sewing and crafting pillows and hearts for
my very favorite place,
to brighten up these dreary winter days.

My kitchen is truly the heart of my home,
and what better time of year to celebrate
this special place than on Valentine's day!

Here is one of the heart sachets I recently made :)

I've gussied up my Hoosier cupboard
with all things red and girly :)

I crocheted the little baskets.
You can find the instructions Here.

The framed print is simply scrapbook paper
that I can change for every season.

The door holds a candy box that I decorated
last year.

You can see the details Here.

The front says, 'Sweet' :)
I used the same vintage heart lace trim
on some pillows I just made.

I converted my spice rack to
jars of cupcake sprinkles.
Sometimes you just need a cupcake <3

Everything I need to do a little
cupcake baking and have
a nice mug of tea.

My daybed has a new, romantic look, too.

Hearts, cherubs, ruffles and lace.
The crochet rug was made from fabric strips
and usually lives in my sewing room.

My new hand-sewn pillows with the vintage heart lace.

Pillows made from vintage linens.

The ruffled pillow was a sweet gift from my sis-in-law.

I made the doily pillow and sachets.

A sweet collection of Valentines.

And cherubs <3

A few more vintage style Valentines.....

on my enamel top farm table.

A cozy corner to while away a winter's day
with a good book.
(And a cupcake :)

Sachets made from vintage chenille and toile,

and filled with lavender.

I just made the button heart <3

You can't have too much love <3

A heart for my morning coffee....

And one for my afternoon tea....

You can find directions for the crochet heart Here.

A bit of framed humor from Ann Taintor :)

"From scratch?
Why yes,
I scratched the label
right off the bakery's box."

Thank you for stopping by, dear Friends!

Come visit again and we'll have cupcakes and tea!

xoxo

  2. Hi Karen,
My heart is smelting here over the beauty and the lovely decorations - It's like you're getting a whole new home - to Easter, to summer, to fall, to Christmas, and also to Valentines!
Your sweet husband must really appreciate to have you as a homemaker companion - The red dishes in the cupboard, the pillows and everything!
The Button Heart looks so sweet ... I feel like doing one, a bit smaller, to our kitchen.
Thank you for being an inspiration, may you have a lovely Valentine!

  32. Dearest Karen, you have the sweetest home ever! I am in love with your Valentine's decorations and the pops of red and white throughout your home. You have gone the extra mile in decorating and it's truly stunning.

I had to smile when I saw your sachets and yesterday I made several for my Etsy shop. I love lavender, but sadly it doesn't love me. I can only handle the scent for a bit and then look out, it's headache central.

Thank you for giving us a tour of your charming home. Love and hugs to you!

  33. Oh Karen, everything looks so charming and sweet! Love all the pretty touches, so many of them made by your own hands. I especially love all the pillows. I have so many vintage linens and laces; I should try and make some pillows from them, yours are so lovely. I actually just took down the Christmas greenery and lights from our stairwell. Everything else has been long gone, but I was enjoying the extra lights during these dark days. You've inspired me to get my nest in order for our next holiday! Hope you have a wonderful week. xo

  38. Hi Karen, I am so impressed with all the decorating that you did for Valentine's Day. It is almost as extensive like decorating for Thanksgiving or even Christmas. It looks very cozy and lovely!
I love all your cherubs. Somehow I have a thing for cherubs even though I myself only own very few. I also like all your sewn hearts and sachets in heart shape.
My Valentine's Day decoration will be very restraint, but I intend to bake something special for my husband and hope we will celebrate our love with a sip of champagne that day!
    Warm regards,
    Christina
