The Wedding is over. It's time to get back to work.
We left the beautiful waterside hotel, 3 hours North, travelled back through the city.....
And back to our foothills community along the base of Mt. Rainier.
Back to the country roads, the peaceful farms, the empty roads.
The familiar faces.
We are having a long stretch of sunny and dry weather.
The fields are turning gold.
The corn is getting high.
The house needs a good coat of new stain. So I do the low parts.
And Hubby does all the high parts. I make him wear a harness clipped to a ring attached to the house. I need him.
And together we will get the job done. If the weather holds out. The fun is over. Now it's back to work. Together. And that's fun to us.
The older I get, the more I think that doing ordinary and important tasks like this, together with a loving companion, is one of the most enjoyable things in life! I love all your photos with Mt. Rainier in the background. I always looked out for Mt. Hood, growing up in Portland, and felt that in some way it perhaps looked out for me... A friendly presence on the horizon.
ReplyDeleteHi Christine, yes it is the simple things in life that you remember the most. The mountain is such a presence here, a landmark. We sometimes don't see it for weeks at a time in the winter months with all the cloud cover. When it appears, everyone says, 'The mountain is out' and we all know what that means! I lived in the Willamette Valley for 4 years and know Mt. Hood, also. So beautiful... There is a place here where you can see all 4 of the large peaks, on the road by Mt. Rainier. You feel so small and insignificant. I couldn't live without seeing my beautiful Mountains! Thanks for sharing! xx
