Rustic Romantic Vintage Style Flower Containers

At my son's recent Wedding Rehearsal Dinner
I decorated the front entry with this vintage galvanized bucket full of roses.

This is how it looked...

A closer view showing the roses displayed with a sweet photo and stack of vintage books.

Appropriate titles....

Perfect for the setting.

To create, I simply decoupaged a label using Mod Podge -(Matte finish).

Copied from a book of labels by
onto plain copy paper.

I tore the edges and made a wash from 'Burnt Umber' acrylic paint and water
to give it an antique look.
I let it dry before decoupaging to the bucket.

To make it waterproof, paint over the label with more Mod Podge to seal.

Draped with vintage crochet edging and skeleton 'keys to my heart',
this created a rustic romantic container for roses.

After the wedding, I enjoyed the beautiful flowers at home.

A vintage tool caddy....

And vintage crates....

Can you ever have too many flowers?

I think not!

For a few precious days it was like living in a flower shop.

Such a lovely reminder of a very special occasion.

I hope this inspires you to create your own rustic romantic
vintage style flower bucket of your own.

Thank you, Dear Friends for your sweet visit!

And thank you for your kind birthday wishes
for my Dear Daughter.

She wants to thank you.

  12. Hi Karen, I just found your blog! I love the container that you created for your son's wedding rehearsal dinner. It looks so pretty with the roses and certainly makes for a warm welcome. I agree with you it is so nice to flowers in the house! Warm regards,

  13. Oh Karen, I love your containers...especially the galvanized bucket, the way you fixed it up. You have such a lovely touch with things! Yes, Grandson loved the trip. Still posting pictures, of course, even though we've been home two months! :-) Yes, we do have one saguaro in the front yard, and it has baby arms coming on now. We do love so many things about living here...but the summer heat is really wearing on me. I wish we could move (the kids would have to as well) further north, up near Prescott or Payson.

  19. Hi Karen, wow it is amazing how flowers can look so gorgeous in a bucket with a pretty labe that you made! I love all the flowers from the wedding! Enjoy! Have a wonderful week.

  20. Karen,
While browsing through your home, it felt so warm and cozy. Flowers really add something special, don't they? What a great idea to do this for your son's wedding rehearsal dinner. You know, pink roses are my second favorite after the red rose, and these are the perfect color. I really like the old books that go along with it, and the title 'the heart remembers" is so fitting for a wedding. You always amaze me with your projects and ideas, and I love coming over to your house and seeing all the lovely rooms. I wish we could sit and have coffee together and chat. Blog friends are special, and I'm so glad that you are now one of mine.

  21. I can always count on you for serving us with beautiful vintage, romantic views of your lovely home and surroundings. Congrats to your son and new daughter-in-law...I can't help but know that the wedding had to be beautiful!!

  22. Congratulations to your son and his new bride! I love those roses with the bucket! You made a beautiful display of lovely colorful flowers and your cool bucket. I love Modge Podge. It is my favorite thing! I am not very crafty but I belonged to a group of bloggers once that had to take an old vintage photo and replicate it on something! I found an old wooden box (larger than a recipe box) but it was very plain and I Modge Podged the heck out of that! It is quite lovely and I was proud of my crafting! I always appreciate your kindness and stopping by to visit. I am grateful to have many prayers covered this phamily during this difficulty. I have so many prayer requests I write them down and would love to create a beautiful notebook to keep them in. For two years I prayed Nick would go to the Kansas Wesleyan University. God answered my prayer this year and he started there a few weeks ago. His XC/track and field coach is a wonderful Godly Christian man and everything is going well. They school is building a new track and it is going to be beautiful! Lots of good prayers answered.
Happy belated birthday to your daughter. We seem to celebrate something constantly. Makes life fun! I can see the wedding, I know it was just beautiful. Hugs and Blessings to you today and yours, Anne

  23. So pretty! I love how the bucket turned out. Your home is so pretty! xoxox

  24. Dearest Karen,
You deserved their presence after that special day as you created a very romantic setting for those flowers... LOVE those roses inside the bucket à la Karen!

  25. So very romantic looking. You did a wonderful job with the flowers.

  26. Hi Karen,
Congratulations to the bride and groom! You did a wonderful job with the flowers, I LOVE the rustic bucket... it's perfectly delightful! Nope, you can never have too many flowers :-)
Wishing the newlyweds a lifetime of happiness!

  27. The flowers are all so beautiful, and so beautifully enhanced by your containers!! xx

  28. No, you can never have too many flowers! (I think it's so very sad that many hospital wards now ban flowers, in case people have allergies. I think flowers are incredibly healing - for those of us who aren't allergic. And what could be worse than to have an allergy to flowers?) You have a wonderful sense of style, and such creativity. I've heard about Faith Baldwin's novels, but have never read them. Have you? I read that there's a very spiritual side to her writing, although at the same time her romantic novels were very mainstream and enjoyed enormous commercial success in her time.

    1. Hi Christine - I didn't know that some hospitals ban flowers! How sad! Thank you for your sweet compliment :) I have read the book I have and it is rather quaint by today's standards. Yes, she was a very popular writer in her time. I have enjoyed her book for its rather sweet title, too. Fun to decorate with! xo Karen

  29. My dear Karen, it's beautiful! I love everything about the bucket from the picture, to the lace and the keys. It's a work of beauty :)

You are an inspiration, sweet lady. Hugs to you!

  30. The pail looks beautiful Karen! You did a great job. Don't you love those Dover publications? And no, there's no such thing as too many flowers. Glad you get to enjoy them for a while.

  31. The flower bucket made the entry so inviting, Karen. (I love that the label is in French, too, the language of my heart.) I'm going to tuck this away as an idea for later. I especially like the stack of books - would be perfect for my daughter, an English grad student who may (one day) get married to her beau. :)

Thank you for stopping by! Your comments are important to me and are very much appreciated. xx Karen
