I hope you all have a wonderful holiday!
I will leave you with a quote from my favorite family satirist, the late Erma Bombeck.
"You have to love a nation that celebrates its independence every July 4th, not with a parade of guns, tanks, and soldiers who file by the White House in a show of strength and muscle, but with family picnics where kids throw Frisbees, the potato salad gets iffy, and the yellow jackets die from happiness. You may think you have just overeaten, but it is actually Patriotism." :)

ReplyDeleteDearest Karen,
ReplyDeleteLove Erma's quote; so true. We just got back from our lunch with friends on the river. We were indoors, even though we could walk when we arrived there but the thunderstorm changed all that. It is again pouring down.
Happy 4th of July to you and your loved ones.

Hi Karen! A belated happy 4th of July to you. Catching up on your posts - they are all so summery and beautiful. And I love that Erma Bombeck quote! She was so great. I remember reading her column in the newspaper as a kid. I love her quote about her favourite form of housework being sweeping the room with a glance!
ReplyDeleteSpent the day with family yesterday so I didn't get around to visiting my bloggy friends, but I hope you enjoyed your fourth! :)
ReplyDeleteGreat Independence Day post, Karen! All your quotes are so wonderfully true! And the family picnic theme by Erma Bombeck does relect our comfortable, healthy, happy sense of freedom through the years!
