Time for Reflection

We woke up on Christmas morning to a dusting of snow.....

And beautiful rays of light
from the heavens.

Nature's beauty ushering in
this most blessed of days.

The table was set.....

( Candles wrapped in birch bark paper
for the centerpiece. )

Log rounds served as coasters.

Toasts were made.....

'The Elf' - a splash of Midori in a glass of champagne
garnished with a cranberry :)

On the menu:
Brown Sugar glazed ham
Scalloped potatoes
green salad / rolls
and
Gingerbread cake

Simply made from two boxes of gingerbread cake mix
frosted in the middle with a tub
 of store-bought cream cheese frosting.

Simple and delicious
on a busy morning!

The 'Poinsettia' was made using
jelly candy 'fruit slices'.

We gather around the tree....

With our special guest - Jen's Mom, Julia.

Presents were opened....

Celebrating Ethan's first Christmas!

A special gift from Gramma -
finished just in time!

He's been OUR special gift this year <3

All too soon it was over.

The house is quiet now,
but sweet memories linger.

I hope you all had a wonderful, Merry Christmas! !

xoxo

I've been under the weather with a head cold
this last week, so I am taking this time
before New Year's to rest a bit.

I will be visiting while I recover - something
I have not had time to do recently.
I was unable to get close to my
little grandson at Christmas
because I didn't want to pass this nasty
bug along.

Praying for all those affected by the
terrible weather in the middle of the country this week.
My heart breaks for all those who lost loved ones.

 My Dear Friends.
It's been such a beautiful journey
getting to know each and every one of you
this past year and I look forward to
a New Year of friendship with all of you.

xoxo

  1. Your table looked gorgeous, Karen. The family looked right at home there. Little Ethan has his dad's smile; so sweet. He looks so cute in his sweater. Hope you are feeling well soon. I imagine it could not have been easy hostessing when you feel under the weather. Get some rest. Hugs, Deb

Oh, we have to watch out for those spammers and they love to do so in older posts! Nearly impossible to go there... so comment moderation is the safest way to go. I do that for years now and I am happy with it.
No, we can't figure out why people can be that nasty...
Sending you healing wishes for the remainder of this year. Have a peaceful and quiet year's ending and a Happy New Year coming your way.
    Hugs,
    Mariette

PS My FeedBurner still is not working. It wil not show my latest posts... I had tried a few short messages and it did work. Than I posted finally a belated Christmas Eve Dinner post and delated the messages but they got stuck... So aggravating and makes one want to quit!

  19. What gorgeous pictures of Christmas morning! We did not have a white Christmas but it was lovely just the same. The weather seems to get to us anyways...I had a sinus infection the whole week of Christmas! Hope you are feeling better soon. Your grandson is just adorable and your table was just lovely. That Elf drink sounds so good! My favorite gifts this year were 6 framed pictures of my grandchildren and daughters. They are what make Christmas so special, aren't they? Looking forward to all your posts in the New Year!
