Happy May Day!

Let us take our baskets early
to the meadows green,

While the wild-flowers still are pearly
with the dewdrop's sheen.

Fill them full of blossoms rosy,
Violets and gay

Cowslips, every pretty posy
Welcoming the May.

Then our lovely loads we'll carry
Down the Village street,

On each door with laughter merry,
Hang a basket sweet.

-Evaleen Stein-

Happy May Day
Dear Ones!

  6. Love the basket of sweet flowers and the poem. It reminds me of my childhood, delivering baskets to the neighbors, ringing their bell and running away!

  7. Love this basket! My late mamaw would have loved this. She loved flowers and she took such good care of them every morning and evening. I can't believe it's already May! Can you!?

  8. Although we don't celebrate May Day here, once I learned of the traditions, I've always liked the concept. There aren't enough flowers blooming here this early to take part in a basket of wild flowers, although you have collected a very pretty basketful where you are! Have a wonderful day! Wendy x

    1. My Dear Mariette,
Yes! Apple Blossoms! I am so happy - there are bee's buzzing around them, too. I have two dwarf apple trees and they give me a big basket every fall. Thank you for your sweet visit xoxo Karen

  35. I love the month of May but it starts out the busy time of year. We celebrate many good things in May and it is the time when the snow finally falls away! I use to celebrate May Day with my neighbor Marilynn. she was widowed and we would each leave the other some surprise on the front porch. We moved a way and I often think I ought to stop by and do it anyway! God willing, maybe next year!
