Flea Market Decorating for Summer

Recently I went to the  'Junk Salvation' - Funky Junk Sisters Vintage Market at the State Fairgrounds.

It was a beautiful Saturday with 3 whole buildings to explore, including outside vendors like this cute vintage bus converted to a clothing shop.

The atmosphere was festively vintage......

Including this little vintage trailer shop.

This little gal was dressed for some serious shopping! Check out her footwear! She was cool, comfortable and fast!

There was alot to see!

One of the first booths I entered had the sweetest little succulent vignettes.

All were planted in vintage 'pots and pans' with old spoons, cups, or pretty little plates poking up between the plants.

She also had all the 'ingredients' to create your own.

I bought this sweet little set to do just that.

(I will show you the results in a week or so)

Then I spotted this gorgeous turquoise tool caddy and knew it would be perfect to carry dishes and napkins out to the deck.

This tiny pillow made from a vintage quilt came home with me, too.

I gave it to my Dear Sister. It's so soft, she said she would put it on her bed.

Of course I had to have this little painting! I collect amateur art with scenes of mountains.

The colors were perfect for my home.

It hangs in my tiny guest 'powder room'.

Even the frame is perfect.

These sea colored bottles caught my eye.

They have a lovely embossed design along their base.

I added them to my recently updated summer mantel.

The deep green bottle with the 'bubble' top has been with me since I was a new bride.

It is filled with marbles found here and there over the years.

Do you ever find marbles?

I replaced a rather dark hued painting of flowers with this summery scene.

I wanted to bring in the color green  to brighten things up.

I made the decoupage tray out of cocktail napkins and a little craft paint.

The green hued pottery pieces were flea market finds.

These two depression glass bowls also came home with me!

I've replaced my cranberry glass with blues and greens.

More marbles that I found while gardening (my children's former sand box area) and a Recycled Candle.

It was easy to find things I had on hand to add to my 'green' decorating!

And of course, green snacks!

I hope you enjoyed coming along with me to the Funky Junk Sister's Vintage Market.

I had a lot of fun searching for special treasures to brighten up my home.

Do you go to Flea Markets?

What do you like to collect?

xoxo

  1. Such great finds Karen! Did you have a truck to bring them back in? I would have to as everything in your photos would have had to come back with me, including the little trailer shop!

Thank you for your sweet comment on my blog, I tried to reply but it came up that you are a no reply blogger (just in case you didn't know). The views are spectacular but I don't think even I could have stood on that scaffolding! Have a wonderful weekend. Chel x

  4. Dearest Karen,
We used to go to our State Fairgrounds in Atlanta but they closed already ten years or so. In our immediate area there is not that much to collect but if we go to the mountains of Georgia we always check out the city of Madison. That is a city spared during the Civil War, said that General Sherman had a love there... and it is so pretty to visit it with all its Victorian style homes and old shops.
You did find quite some treasures and really nice things that you will enjoy or anyone being gifted some.
Happy weekend to you. We will celebrate 4th of July today with the 'Family' that adopted us too... Let's hope it stays dry in the afternoon.
    Hugs,
    Mariette

  10. The lighter colors really make your house shine. I have a jar of marbles but never thought to put them out for a long time. I collect dishes - and paper dolls - and vintage linens - and well, that is enough for now. I love your new acquisitions - they go so well with everything else. The decoupaged tray is a cute idea.

  25. I tell you what, Karen - I really love the things you found, and the "eye" you have to know what to do with the treasures. It is so fun to change decorations with the seasons, and I enjoy learning tips from you. Norm recently told me when I changed from Patriotic 4th colors to summer sun yellows, "You would not be you if you didn't decorate by seasons." I took this as a compliment. :)

  30. Hello - researching a painting that was found in the 90's at my in-laws farm in Indiana. I see you have the painting over your fireplace in the last (I believe) picture posted here). Wondering if you ever researched it or have any information on it. I know it has to be at lease 50 years old. My husband remembers it at the farm when he was growing up. Just curious and thought I'd ask. Thanks so much. (regiaz@timeoforigin.com)

    1. Hi Regi -I have not done any research on this painting - but it is signed WEBER, in capital, block letters. I found this print at a thrift store a few years ago. I am sure it must have been mass marketed. The print is on heavy cardboard with, I am assuming, a gesso coating to give it a realistic texture. There is no glass and it is very lightweight. I hope this helps in your research and thank you for visiting my blog! xo Karen
