Be My Valentine

In honor of St. Valentine's Day,
Sweet Friends and Dear Loved Ones,
I send to you
my favorite vintage Valentines
and quotes on love......

"The greatest happiness of life is the conviction that
we are loved; loved for ourselves, or rather,
loved in spite of ourselves"

-Victor Hugo -

"The best and most beautiful things in this world
cannot be seen or even heard,
but must be felt with the heart"

- Helen Keller -

"I would rather spend one lifetime with you,
than face all the ages of this world alone"

- Lord of the Rings -

"We are shaped and fashioned by those we love"

- Geothe -

"One word frees us of all the weight and pain of life;
that word is love"

- Sophocles -

"We were together. I forget the rest"

- Walt Whitman -

"So, I love you because the entire universe conspired
to help me find you"

- Pablo Coelho -

"There is no charm equal to
tenderness of heart"

-Jane Austin -

In French, you don't say, "I miss you".
You say, "Tu me manques", which
means, "You are missing from me".

"Nobody has ever measured, not even poets,
how much the heart can hold"

- Zelda Fitzgerald -

"How do you spell 'love'?" - Piglet
"You don't spell it......you feel it." - Pooh

"Tis better to have loved and lost
than never to have loved at all"

- Alfred Lord Tennyson, in Memoriam -

"How do I love thee? Let me count the ways.
I love thee to the depth and breadth and height
my soul can reach"

- Elizabeth Barrett Browning -

"Love is a better master than duty"

- Albert Einstein -

"Love is space and time
measured by the heart"

- Marcel Proust -

"To love is to recognize yourself in another"

- Eckhart Tolle -

"If I had a flower for every time I thought
of you...I could walk through my garden forever"

- Alfred Lord Tennyson -

Love never gives up, never loses faith,
is always hopeful and endures
through every circumstance

- Corinthians 13:7 -

And I love this post - as I love all things vintage. And I"m a hopeless romantic as well. I've always especially loved the french words for miss you and what it literally means too. So perfect!

    1. Karen, many years ago, I wrote down the words, Tu me manques, and I've always loved this French saying and have it kept in my desk. I love the Pooh quote too. My favorite of them all is the Corinthians verse, it's beautiful. These vintage Valentines are sweet, and thank you for sharing them with us. My sister loves the vintage holiday cards, and I think I will send her one, as she's been having a lot of arthritis pain in her knee. Such a delightful Valentine post.

Happy Valentine's Day to my dear blog friend.
