Hello, Dear Friends,
today I would like to share a few
beautiful cards from my collection.
Sweet Sentiments from special people.
I love to showcase these charming tokens
of love and friendship in little vignettes.
The handmade paper and sweet posies give this
card simple charm.
Sweet Sentiments from my dear Sis, Donna.
She lives too far away and I miss her.......
I painted the vase years ago.
The tiny tea 'cookbook' was a gift from
my Dear Mother and is illustrated with hand-painted
images of tea-cakes, teapots, and on these pages -
a whole tablescape.
A lovely reminder of treasured visits over tea.
It's wonderful to pass by this sweet vignette
with its whispered memories.
Tucked safely on the shelf in the blue cupboard.
Handmade cards are extra special
and this one, especially so.
Dear Connie, from the blog,
'Connie's Crafty Creations,'
made this especially for me.
(You can find her on my blogroll)
She makes beautiful, personalized cards.
This one captures my life so perfectly....
With two cats in the yard.....
Thank-you, sweet Connie.
Aren't blogging friends wonderful?
This vignette is in celebration of nature.
A gentle reminder to stop and appreciate the beauty around us.
And sweet, blogger friends.
This handcrafted card was sent from another
blogger friend a couple of years ago.
Each little flower is cut from handmade paper.
I created this vignette with my own crocheted baskets.
If you are interested in the baskets,
you can see my original post Here.
This vignette features another handcrafted card
from my sweet Sis, Terry.
The handmade sachet was a gift from her, too.
This vignette inspires my needlework
and resides on a work tray in a corner of
my sewing room.
So easy to just pick up when inspiration strikes.
Vintage bits and pieces for creative moments.
We are thousands of miles apart,
but close in heart.
A childhood ironing board
makes a perfect perch for gathering
supplies.
Here I am, once upon a time.....
Too bad irons don't work on all wrinkles :)
This vignette features a card that is
very special to me.
It's from my Dear Mother.
Here she is as a child, and as a young woman
when she first met my Father.
The hand-crocheted lace is from
the ring-bearer's pillow
at her wedding, made by
her Grandmother, Ellen.
Her card is a thank-you note in her lovely handwriting.
This vignette is on my vanity.
A place to pause and reflect before I start my day......
To honor all of the women who came before
me who shared these same, timeless, beauty rituals.
This 'Flavia' tile was given to me by Ramblin' Man
when we were dating <3
My fifth and last vignette features
an anniversary card from my daughter,
Heather and her husband, Eric.
(Our anniversary is in the fall)
This lovely card is also made of handmade, embossed paper,
with a lacy die-cut. If you look closely, you can see
how delicately sparkly it is, as if it was sprinkled
with star dust.
Paper roses in the same lovely color.
You can find how to make the roses here.
Sweet Sentiments and hand-painted loveliness.
My daughter's wedding day.
My baby cup.
A simple vignette in celebration of love and devotion.
xoxo
I hope you have enjoyed my 'Sweet Sentiments -Vignettes,'
Dear Friends, and that this inspires you
to create some of your own.
In this day and age of social media and instant messaging,
a beautiful card is a charming keepsake.
It's wonderful to showcase these lovely works of art
to honor special moments, and treasured friends
and loved ones.
xoxo

So sweet and precious Karen. Those homemade items - made with extra time and tender loving care mean so much, don't they? They are definitely treasures worth the keeping for many years to come...as most precious of all are the memories that come with them. xoxo

ReplyDeleteThe vignettes are lovely and oh so many memories. I have an old photo of my mom when she was in her early 20s with her hair so pretty. She always had her hair done nicely and even at an older age, she cared about it even though it was cut shorter. Thanks for sharing your inspiration of your interesting displays. Good ideas!

Beautiful vignettes Karen, and a lovely way to show off your cards. I have saved dozens of cards over the years in a drawer. At least I know where they are even if they don't get displayed. I'm sure they will be thrown out some day which is sad to me. Have a wonderful week.
ReplyDeleteAS always your vignettes are beautiful and it inspires me to create little spots for me in my world.Thank you
ReplyDeleteDearest Karen,
ReplyDeleteYes, it is those little tokens, made with affection and love and mostly by hand, that will touch us forever. That's the reason we hold on to them and will not part of them.
It is the living memory by which our loved ones live on and you so lovingly do continue the romantic and above all, practical and frugal touches that your dear Mom and Grandmother lived by.
Sending you hugs and blessings,
Mariette
I love all of those pretty vignettes and handmade cards!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing this at Cooking and Crafting with J&J.
Enjoy the week.

Karen, the little spaces you have created around your house are so wonderful. And Yes, you have inspired me to make one of my own. I do have cards that I cherish, but are put away, and it would be nice to put them out. The vase you painted is so pretty. Your blue hutch holds soft spring colors. You know, I love to see women's vanities, and even did a post about it one time showing mine. Yours is so charming. I really liked the nature display because nature is so very special to me, but I have to say that my favorite on here was your dear Mother's display. I love her picture as a child, the hand crocheted lace, her card, everything about it. It looks so vintage and filled with meaning, which in my opinion, is the best kind of display of all.

Yes, Connie is so talented and thoughtful, as are all my blogger friends. Hugs xo Karen
DeleteGood evening Karen... I particularly love the tiny tea 'cookbook; and what a special treasure... one to keep forever, as it came from your mother... I love that filtered light coming from that window where the table is, and outside that piece of landscape I can see past the balcony... lovely.
ReplyDeleteI have enjoyed the little tour...
Hugs

Lovely memories! How nice to receive such beautiful cards
ReplyDeleteTalk about inspiration striking, what a simply stunning reminder of how special the written card and letters are. I wrote a letter this week and it was a joy to hand write, sadly I bought the card...You would be such a joy Karen to send the cards to because you cherish and keep them and the memories. Such beautiful and special cards! I love to keep all the handmade ones, too.
ReplyDeleteThey are certainly one-of-a-kind treasures!
Lovely Karen, another beautiful and inspiring post! Everything is simply wonderful and extra precious!
ReplyDeleteThe card Connie made you is quite the work of art...she is so sweet and talented!
Thank you for sharing. May you have a blessed week. Love and hugs to you!
My dear Karen,
ReplyDeleteI am always amazed at your wonderful posts. It's your lovely home and all the little touches you have with your creative spirit...a love for the past, and for family and friends! I adore it! Your vignettes were delightful to see, and I love each and every little tribute to beauty and love and the "little things" that make life wonderful! I hope I can do more of that in my new home. I don't have Victorian, or shabby chic as my style, but love Arts & Crafts Movement and love the Depression era...the days of my Grandmother. Speaking of such, I hope you will consider reading a book I will be reviewing soon, Angle of Repose. It is a long read, but it won the Pulitzer for good reason, and I have loved it so much! It is partially set in the Victorian era. I think you would appreciate it. Hope you have a beautiful week!
What a lovely post, full of inspiration and nice pictures...
ReplyDeleteHave a great week and take care.
Love from Titti
My dear Karen,
ReplyDeletereading your post and watching the photos was like a little holiday trip to me.
All these memories which we take with us for a lifetime. From a distance your mum looks a little bit like young Queen Elizabeth, maybe because of the same hairstyle.
I love to be a guest in your house, watching all these little things which are so convenient, so significantly for our lives. The little treasures which mean so much for us, they are all telling us stories about beloved people, moments. We couldn´t exist without our memories.
Wish you a wonderful week my dear Karen, Hugs Barbara
