On still winter mornings,
the mists of time veil
the forest in gossamer light.
The only sound from
vapor'ed breath and quickened
heartbeat as familiar paths
drift away.
Landmarks stand in faded silhouette
like distant memories.
like distant memories.
Uneasy wariness descends,
as craggy fingers search for light.
as craggy fingers search for light.
A shadowed creature appears in the gloom.
Breath is held, heart stops beating.
Frozen fear,
then silence breaks -'Baaaaaaa'.
Relief.
You smile.
But all seems strange.
Another world.
Another time.
Is it illusion?

Great foggy pics! Since in my neck of the woods there's often fog, I really appreciate these! Love the one with the moss on the bark of the trees.

Greetings Karen, I too loved seeing your misty photos of winter's lovliness. We had fog roll in here last night and it was magical. It reminded me of those Sherlock Holmes movies set in fog strewn London. Hope all is well with you and your lovely family. Hugs, Pat
ReplyDeleteDearest Karen,
ReplyDeleteYou can show us very intimate photos from another world that did diminish in size. But seeing things and animals that mean no harm is comforting!
Enjoy a cozy weekend inside your lovely home.
Hugs,
Mariette

What a great post. Those "misty/foggy" fence shots were fantastic. The prose you added to them just made everything come alive. I really enjoyed this.
ReplyDeleteThe misty photos are beautiful, Karen! I always enjoy seeing views of your world.
ReplyDeleteHappy weekend, sweet friend! xo
Love the magical fog photos. I do hope to get some myself one day.
ReplyDeleteFantastic fog pictures, it always gives this feel of what is beyond, love the one where you can barely see the sheep. Like the words you gave to the pictures too! Have a most enjoyable weekend!
ReplyDeleteIt looks absolutely eerie!
ReplyDeleteI too enjoy capturing foggy day.. I often hope to find a lonely animal alone in the mist and wonder how it finds it's self around...and sometime one's own thoughts are carried away and you can scare your self silly in the fog covered path as you walk along...
ReplyDeleteAll lovely photo images...like number 1 photo cause that one could be the scene that could get yourself lost in thought of never seeing ahead and being lost --wink!!!
So so lovely! Beautifully written and beautifully photographed, Karen. And I love the quote at the end. I look forward to the possibility of a misty woodland scene close to my home!
