Hello, Dear Friends, I would like to introduce you
to the newest member of the family, 'Kai'.
Many of you know that we lost our beloved Border Collie,
Champ, in January.
Since then I had been pet-sitting for my daughter's
two mini-dachshunds, Peanut and Weenie Baby
until Jennie could save for and buy a home
of her own.
Weenie Baby has recovered nicely from her surgery,
although it was a little rough for her and
I had to take her back and forth to the veterinarian 4 times.
(Some sleepless nights, too)
Now that they are all back together, I knew it
was time to find a companion for Whitey Bear.
I was fortunate to find this little fellow.
His young master had to make the brave and difficult
decision to give him up due to changing
life's circumstances, and wanted a home
in the country so that Kai could have the freedom
he was unable to provide.
Here he is in Whitey Bear's too big harness
after our first morning walk,
holding a treat. It took much coaxing and soothing
to help him through the separation process, and we had
a sleepless night, but things are going well today
and Whitey Bear and Kai are bonding nicely.
Even the cats are comfortable with him.
After all the excitement he is all tuckered out
and sound asleep on the deck.
Both dogs are American Eskimo.
Sweet, sociable, curious, playful, and highly intelligent,
this breed needs lots of room to run
and lots of stimulation to keep them from getting bored.
And a good grooming schedule!
We look forward to many happy adventures together,
and his young master is welcome to visit any time.
Just look at that sweet face!
We promise to take very good care of
this little cutie-pie!
xoxo
I know I have not been keeping up with all of
you lately. Life has been catching up with me!
Hopefully this week I can get back on track.
I've missed you!
xoxo
Hi Karen,
ReplyDeleteHow beautiful your sweet dogs are and yes, the sweetest faces. Kai is lucky to have found your lovely home and glad that all your pets are settling in together.
Great that Weenie Baby has recovered from the surgery - love the photo of them behind the gate.
Enjoy the week
hugs
Carolyn
What a sweet puppy! It's good that he is adjusting. Those are beautiful dogs. We are cat people - have never had a dog, but sometimes we say if we did, this or that one would be nice:)
ReplyDeleteHave a great week!
He does have a very sweet face not seen around here I guess our weather is too hot and humid for them.
ReplyDeleteMerle............
Karen, your new dog is precious, and such a beauty. I've always wanted a white dog like this, but as you said, they need lots of room to roam, and that just wouldn't work in our smaller house and back yard. I guess I'll just have to get my doggie love through your posts haha. What a warm welcome to your family. He is sweet.

Karen- He is just beautiful!!!! We had a Samoyed when our kids were little and he was one of the best dogs we ever had. They are so gentle and sweet. When we got him he was just a tiny pup and we went out to cut a Christmas tree and took him along. He about scared us to death because he went running off into the deep snow and would sink and we couldn't find him for a few minutes. You will LOVE that new little guy! xo Diana
ReplyDeleteDearest Kai,
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your new baby! How sweet hat face is and so happy to read he's getting along so well with Whitey Bear and with the cats. It must be traumatic for any pet to be separated from the human parent they loved... But he will be very much loved and that will help!
So happy for you.
Hugs,
Mariette

Hi Karen,
ReplyDeleteI'm thinking his previous owner knew he could not give Kai what he needed to be truly healthy and, therefore, happy. He's such a looker! I hope he has many happy years in your household and brings you deep joy.

I can see with the two dogs that you have to either do a lot of regular brushing or have a good groomer! sweeties!
ReplyDeleteAwwwww, sweet, sweet faces :)
ReplyDeletewelcome to your new pup! glad the boys are getting along and the cats, too! awesome!
ReplyDeleteThat's a wonderful story. And I am not from the south, but this moves me to say, "Bless your heart!" :)
ReplyDeleteNow that is a face I could love! I am a cat person but every once in a while I see a dog I just know I could love. I will have to remember the American Eskimo doggies if we ever move back to the country. We live in the village now so it just wouldn't work. They look so soft and cuddly!

Welcome to Kai! What a cute dog and hopefully a great playmate for Whitey. I'm sure they'll become best of friends. I'm glad the former owner will be able to come visit Kai too. He must miss him. I'm glad Weanie Baby is recovering and hopefully doing much better.
ReplyDeleteWhat a cutie, and a perfect new companion for Whitey Dog.
ReplyDeleteKai is gorgeous and how very gracious you are in extending an invitation to the former owner to come visit.
ReplyDeleteI have a feeling that Champ is smiling, approvingly down from heaven knowing that you have saved sweet Kai and are providing a loving, safe home as you had for him all those years.
Wishing you and Kai many years of love and companionship!
Marilyn (in Dallas)
He is beautiful- and has the prettiest coat. I can imagine that would take a lot of combing out!

Very, very sweet indeed. Kai is one lucky dog. It's great that his first owner can come see him. Having a new addition to the family must also be a lot of work, so look after yourself too!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on the arrival of Kai, he's darling. I miss my (Rebel) - American Eskimo's are such sweet dogs.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure Kai will be very happy with you!
ReplyDeleteOh Karen! Kai is a real beauty!! I'm so glad that you were able to find the perfect companion for Whitey. Whitey must be very happy to have a look-alike friend to romp through the trails with you. This is good news indeed after the sudden loss of Champ. You must be very content again.
