A Sweet Baby Shower

On Saturday, we celebrated the future arrival
of Baby Ethan
with a baby shower for Mother-to-be
Erica, my sweet daughter-in-law.

Come inside before the guests arrive,
and take a peek.....

We had 3 balloons for the entrance,
but the wind carried them all away
and we only found two :)

Picture 'the girls' running around the
neighborhood, gathering them up <3

It was a beautiful spring morning,
when we arrived bright and early
with carloads of decorations, food,
and supplies to prepare for the special event.

Here we are....from left, daughter Jennie,
daughter-in-law, Jen
(who lent her lovely home for the event)
Me, daughter Heather, and
Erica's best friend, Nikki - the gracious hostess.

No time for standing around,
we had lots to do.....

Let me show you around.

The entry console....
(newly refinished by Jen with gray chalk paint)
 Isn't it beautiful?

Diaper 'cake' created by daughter Heather.

The theme was 'Baby Elephants'
in the nursery colors of blue and gray,

Everyone addresses their own envelopes for the
new Mother's thank-you cards.

(She has enough on her mind....)

'Bun in the Oven'
*smile*

Tiny diapers for 'Who has the poopy diaper?' game:)

Favors - chocolate kisses with personalized stickers
on the bottom of each one.

The table, set and ready....

The pretty cake, provided by Nikki.

Decorated mirror with 'advice' cards hung
with tiny blue and gray clothes pins
painted by Jen.

My advice: 'Sleep when the baby sleeps and
call Gramma K when you need a break'.

Popcorn cups,(chocolate - caramel - yum!)
 decorated by me :)
Tiny blue 'pacifiers' tied on
with blue baker's twine.

Even the cutlery got the special treatment
from daughter Jennie.

Blue punch, of course!

Canning jar drink glasses.

Decorated hearth
with Baby's Breath.

I painted the flower pot game prizes
with Chalkboard labels.

The Guest of Honor's chair
decorated by daughter Jennie.

A jar of cotton balls
and domed baby shoes.

'Guess how many cotton balls?' game.

'Guess the flavor' baby food game.

'Pacifier' mints made by me.

You can find the directions for these and
many of the other ideas we used, along
with Etsy links for the banners, etc. on
my Pinterest board, 'Baby'.

'Lucky' tries to hide before being safely stashed
in an upstairs bedroom full of treats and toys.

Almost time for the guests to arrive,
Heather and Nikki set out the food.

On the menu:

Tiny meatballs with marinara sauce
Cucumber/herb tea sandwiches
'Caprese' cherry tomatoes with fresh mozzarella and basil
Garden macaroni salad
Lemon drop tea cakes
Blue velvet and vanilla layered cake

The guest of honor arrives!

Happy guests

Time to eat

'Showering' the Mother-to-be with gifts.

A precious bunting hand knitted
by sister-in-law, Jen.
It came with tiny striped hat and socks. <3

Erica shows off her baby bump.

Beautiful Mother, Jayne and Daughter, Erica
3 generations....

Jayne gets the 'poopy' diaper!

Posing with friends

All too soon the day was over,
and as the setting sun turned
the hills to gold,
we headed home,
filled with lovely memories
of a beautiful day
in celebration of
a precious Mother and Child.

Thank you for joining me, Dear Friends,
and sharing this very special time.

xoxo

  14. I have never been to a baby shower, so I 'ohhhed' and 'arghed' by way through each photo... such thought and detail, all the fun games, the nappy cake and dummy mints were wonderful, I am deliberately using our English because I think it is such fun to see the differences.
Wishing you all a safe and happy delivery and can't wait to see the newborn pics!
