Memorial Day Tribute

In remembrance of those fallen serving our country so we can be free.

I've written a column as a tribute to my Father, a soldier, and our family tradition on Memorial Day.
We are forever indebted to these brave men and women.

  3. I found your column immensely touching. I love the imagery of descent, and also how the act of remembering the forgotten soldier mirrors your love of the father who seems to have forgotten you. (Though I don't believe for a minute he has on the deepest level.) Although you're dealing with very sad things, your piece seems really uplifting and affirmative to me! Thank you.

  4. Thank you, Christine for your kind and caring comments. I am struggling with how to express myself in this situation, and this came to me in the middle of the night and I felt compelled to write. I do feel my Father's life is over-all uplifting and I am happy that was conveyed in my piece. And I do hope you are right and he does know me on the deepest level, and I feel this is true. Thank you for sharing your thoughts with me. xx

  5. I don't know how I missed this one, Karen - maybe because I was out of town on Memorial Day. What a beautiful tribute to your father and to all soldiers. A very inspired piece, a perfect metaphor for a valued life. <3
