Seeing the Light - Five on Friday

It's been lovely and warm the last few days,
with beautiful sunshine.

After the wettest winter on record
here in Western Washington State,
sunshine is most welcome!

Let me share this beautiful light
and five lovely quotes with you,
as I go about my day.

Here the morning sunshine is shining
through the lace curtains,
leaving wonderful patterns behind.

"Even the darkest night will end
and the sun will rise."

-Victor Hugo -

Early afternoon finds me out in the gardens.

Late March, and the sun leaves long shadows
even at midday.

Although, it has a soft, ethereal quality.

"From within or from behind,
a light shines through us upon
things, and makes us aware that
we are nothing, but the light is all."

- Ralph Waldo Emerson -

By late afternoon the sun is low and
diffused by the forest.

All things bask in a dreamy haze.

Birds splash in the shimmering light.

Shadows stamp transient images.

"Turn your face to the sun
and the shadows fall behind you."

- Maori Proverb -

As the sun sinks low and afternoon turns to evening,
the light shines into my kitchen for the first time
since the autumn equinox.

It is lovely to prepare the evening meal
with this little ray of sunshine
to end the day.

Antique Jello molds on the windowsill
seem to glow from within as they capture
the last rays.

Fading embers in the forest....

as Mount Rainier reflects upon a lovely day.

"Hope is being able to see that there is light
despite all the darkness."

- Desmond Tutu -

Evening comes with haloed moon rising
over mountains.

Like seeing eyes, Jello molds reflect
porch light from across the room as I stand
at the glass door - right where
 we began as the sun
shone through lace curtains.

The light shines in the darkness
and the darkness has not overcome it.

  35. Meine liebe Karen,

  40. Loved the quotes, Karen...and especially loved your gorgeous photos! Monica at Nature Footsteps had a meme I contributed to for a while, called Catching the Light. It was one of my favorite memes, and this would have been a perfect post for it! Alas, she discontinued it, as there were few participants! Each photo you share is just so beautiful, and I enjoyed this very much!
