A Sweet Sister's Cottage

With only one night to spend in New Hampshire,
my Mister's sweet Sis
lent us her cottage for the night,
while she stayed with her Mom.

Let's take a peek (with her permission)
at her charming New England Style.

I have used a sepia tone in my photos
to translate a sweet nostalgic feeling.

As a hard working single gal with an empty nest,
she rents a wing of this beautiful
country home.

We park by the landlord's son's tree fort.
Don't you love tree forts?

We walk past the front porch of the main house....

to her cottage wing.

Let's go inside!

We walk down the entry hall,
looking back at the door,

We see a little table decorated for the season.

Let's take a closer look....

A sweet vignette.

A dear little scarecrow,

 A hand painted sentiment,

A tiny wreath and hand stitched sachet.

The charming shelf above. <3

The hallway leads to a bright and airy kitchen
with envious storage.

A cozy sitting room with french door leads to a private patio.

Family photos fill this home with love.

Here she is, second from left next to my Mr. and their siblings.

More precious photos including her sweet daughter.

My Dear Mother-in-Law
as a sweet child and beautiful young woman.

I've always been fascinated by a person's selection of art,
as it says so much about personality.

Here we find a lover of country simplicity and charm....

This wonderful print hangs above the sofa.
I love how you can see inside the window.

I love this! <3

A wonderful still life.

A pretty stitched reminder.

Precious mementos.

We relax, surrounded by a sister's love.

We enjoy a comfortable night of sweet dreams.

Thank you, Sis, we wish we could stay forever.

xoxo

Next time:

We attend the wedding!

xoxo

  4. What a treat to be able to be at "home away from home". She has wonderful taste and I can tell she loves her home. That kitchen is a wonderful size for an attached cottage! What a bonus for her to be able to live in a place like this. I bet she feels safe and sound there. Love it and thanks for sharing it...or thank HER for sharing it with us!- xo Diana

  10. Karen,
What a charming and sweet home your sister-in-law has. So many treasures in her home that make it special and cozy. The picture of the siblings is precious. The kitchen is nice and big. I think my favorite was the stitched picture that says "simplify" - simple is my middle name haha. Thank you for giving us a peek into your sister-in-law's home. It is lovely and says "welcome" to me.

  20. Dearest Karen,
That was mighty sweet of your husband's sister and I can see why you call her affectionately 'Sis'.
    Lovely nest she created!
I work on my iPad, from the hospital; my room is cold and I asked Pieter to bring my self made lap-duvet so the down will keep me comfy!
    Hugs,
    Mariette
