With all the April showers we've been having,
I've been staying inside doing a little cooking.
I recently found a delicious recipe for
Double Lemon Cheesecake Bars.
Double Lemon Cheesecake Bars.
I am happy to say that these little morsels of goodness will put a smile on your face!
They have a vanilla wafer cookie crust,
a lemon cheesecake filling,
and a wonderful lemon glaze on top.
I added some frozen raspberries
and lemon zest to make them pretty.
and lemon zest to make them pretty.
Here, have a bite!
Now isn't that delicious?
Let me pour you a cup of tea....
I just picked the last of my daffodils.
The tea pot was a Mother's Day gift
from my daughters two years ago.

Mother's Day Tea
In the Gift Shop
I was told to choose a sweet gift.
I chose this tea pot, (which you can see on the shelf in the 6th photo of the link).
It is a nearly perfect color match to my vintage Franciscan ware.
I am always looking for pieces to add to my collection,
new and vintage.
We are having Green Tea, today.
The Quimper Ware honey pot and tiny flower basket toothpick holder
were gifts from my Dear Mother.
These small gifts represented the start of our 'new life' given
at a time when we were 'roughing it' on raw land,
building our homes.
We had given up most of our household furnishings
and possessions to live in a 32 foot trailer while building.
A small gift of hope.
So very dear.
We are expecting a couple more days of rainy weather,
but the middle of next week is promising to be warm and sunny.
As the sun was setting last night,
we saw this universal sign of hope.
A double!
A beautiful end to a rainy day!
Wishing you rainbows, tea and lemon bars on your rainy days, too!
xoxo

Lemon cheesecake is my favourite so I would love these but not the lemon tea, for some reason I like lemon juice on most things but dislike it in tea.
ReplyDeleteMerle...........
You had me a "Lemon Bars". :o) They are one of my favourite desserts. I also enjoy a good cup of tea and the tea quotes were just perfect. How wonderful you have special treasures from your daughters and mother. It's great that you use and enjoy them too.
ReplyDeleteWhat a nice greeting in today's post -- lovely treasure set and decorations.. it's such a welcome sight.. Yummy, too

What a wonderful post, Beatrice. That lemon dessert looks just delightfully good! I could probably eat the whole pan (shhh-that's OUR secret) lol I was going to ask you what kind of dishes those were. They are gorgeous and the color reminds me of some dime store plates my mother had when I was quite Little. She also had thick coffee cups/mugs that matched and they had a squared off handle on top (isn't it funny what we remember?)
ReplyDeleteThat pot is a gorgeous piece that your daughter gifted you with. I don't suppose she would like to adopt a second mother?;.) Hope you have a wonderful nights. All the restless natives here are snuggled in bed now- whew! xo Diana

Lemon bars - indeed, anything made with lemon - are popular in this house, and yours sound delicious. I do like the quote about the tea - that's how I feel at the end of every cup!

ReplyDeleteHi Karen,
ReplyDeleteOh, those lemon bars look just scrumptious! And I love all the quotes on tea ...
I hope you are doing fine again, after having said farewell to the dear family after Easter ... I know the feeling of "an empty house" ... and the blue mood a few days after - missing them already so much! At the same time, the warmt of the momenst spend together is a great gift ...
Yet, in the meantime - tea is always a great help ...I'd love to join your tea party one day :-)
Lemon cheesecake bars and tea? Black tea for me, please! I had a big cup this afternoon after a morning at church, quick sandwich lunch with husband, then off to see sis while she was visiting mom. A relaxing bit of tea helps me make it through the rest of my day. I agree, a big cup of tea is lovely! It looks like we are having warm, dry weather this coming week! Hurrah! Take care and thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteI'd love to stop by and have a cuppa tea and a delightful lemon cheesecake bar. Raspberries are my favorites and I'd be doubly blessed!! Your teapot is so pretty and I loved seeing the gifts your Mom gave you, Karen. Rainbows are so special to me, always and forever. xo
ReplyDeleteOh my, those lemon bars look good. My favorite dessert!
