We use to have a woodstove and I remember the days of stacking wood. We since converted to propane. Love your herb rack and come winter you will have a feast of blackberries. Here in Aberdeen we are just thrilled to have our central heating back, having sat by the open fire all day and evening for the past week! I'll be planting bulbs (in theory), and maybe making some pumpkin muffins and soups. We definitely need to swap our summer clothes for our winter clothes now. It was nearly a frost yesterday morning!

Your blackberries and herbs both look like such treats to look forward to in the winter.

Happy equinox, Karen!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-999880454764041260.post-38881628623626530912012-09-22T09:50:13.057-07:002012-09-22T09:50:13.057-07:00What a lovely, story-telling way to get prepared f...What a lovely, story-telling way to get prepared for autumn!
Love all your photo-thoughts;
exactly what we all should be doing to ready ourselves and our homes.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11788986734683955240noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-999880454764041260.post-71266359333749561572012-09-22T07:44:51.453-07:002012-09-22T07:44:51.453-07:00Such a warm and inviting home you have, Karen - ju...Such a warm and inviting home you have, Karen - just the place for a cup of tea on a cold day.

I love fall - it's my favorite season. I wanted to name our daughter Autumn (born in November), but Norm would not hear of it.

I haven't done much since living overseas because most of my belongings are in storage - except I did bring along my mugs for "Changing of the Mugs." haha http://stacyallbritton.com/2012/04/18/changing-of-the-mugs-spring/ It's not much, but it's something.

The good news is, there will be no Changing of the Mugs this autumn because we are in the process of moving back to Louisiana (and even my mugs are in storage now). Maybe I'll be able to tell you about preparing for winter. I like to decorate with pumpkins as well in the fall. I bring out my sweaters and heavier jackets. We don't have a fire place, but I like candles. They give a bit of that warmth that you get from the fire. Warm sweaters are being worn everyday and right now I have a blanket wrapped around me. I'm loving it so far, but I'm sure I'll get tired of the cold soon enough! I'll just bake something yummy in the oven and close the kitchen door to trap the heat in. That always works! :)Courtenay@Creek Line Househttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11271964481465767523noreply@blogger.com
